Apostol
Greek, b. 1950
APOSTOL “For me Art is feelings, emotions, symbols” Apostol is an exceptional master in creating unique sculptures of bronze or aluminium with the ancient lost wax casting technique, which he sometimes paints vibrantly in vivid colors. His individual, characteristic style is to combine metal with hand-cut crystal glass resulting in exquisite artworks which reflect magical simplicity and are at the same time a hymn to the joy of life. Inspired by ancient Greek history, music, the sea and nature, through to ever-changing modern times, they are all there for us to admire. His creations decorate homes, companies, hotels, yachts and outdoor areas all over the world.
Works & Biography Apostol Nikolakopoulos
A master of bronze, chrome, and crystal, Apostol transforms materials into meaning. For the artist, “art is feeling, emotion, symbol.” Crystal and metal evoke water and fire—two elemental forces that shape existence. In his work, water appears solid and almost tangible, while metal anchors us in strength and permanence. Together, they reflect life’s dual nature: fragile yet enduring, ever-changing yet grounded. Like water in motion, the soul flows—continuously evolving through moments of transformation.

When one study the work of Greek artist Apostol Nikolakopoulos, who signs his work simply "Apostol," it is easy to see the far-reaching influence of American rock ‘n roll. It is far more challenging to understand how this former economist also translates metal and glass into complex interpretations of the sea and nature. Apostol, is an artist from Greece for over 30 years with galleries in Athens and in Oia, Santorini. Apostol's works are in private collections in homes from around the world, including a recent purchase by Madonna. Working with the ancient lost-wax casting process, Apostol, creates molds for bronze sculptures that range from less than two feet to over twelve feet in height in his Athens foundry. His bronze castings, using the lost-wax process are enhanced with variations of glass, aluminum and silver. He is known for perfecting the technique of large bronze casting, adding then glass and also inserting the crystal pieces into the crevices of his sculptures creating a vibrant refraction between the metal and glass. When asked about the source of his creativity, Apostol says: "The best ideas come to me when I am not intentionally thinking about what my next work will look like." Selected list of honors & awards: Paris, Gallery 2019, 1999 Athens, Gallery Areta, 2000, Nice, Gallery Nouvelle Art, 2001 Athens, Gallery Areta, 2004 Denmark, Gallery Bo 2006, New York, Art Expo, 2007, Santorini, Oia Art Center, 2009.
