Kennsuke Sasaki, born in Kihara in 1957, Chizu-Cho, Tottori Prefecture, Japan, Kennsuke Sasaki remained there until completing high school. He later earned his M.A. in Sculpture from Tokyo University of the Arts (1980–1986). His artistic Career unfolded in three distinct periods:1980–1989: At Tokyo University of the Arts, he focused on Family Portraits and animal sculptures in marble. While in England, he created small stone heads and animal sculptures. 1989–1995: He completed the monumental Stairway to Heaven (1990) at Chizu-Norin High School and began exploring polyhedral abstract sculpture alongside large stone heads and skulls. 1995–2015: Sasaki perfected a method for precisely cutting dodecahedrons from stone, earning a U.S. patent for the technique. Today, most of Sasaki’s works are exhibited at KIHARA (木原) STUDIO in Chizu-Cho, Tottori Prefecture. His monumental sculptures can also be seen at Chizu-Norin High School. In the USA, one can view his work at the re-known Aldo Castillo Gallery. Notably, Sasaki has developed patented geometric forms, pushing the boundaries of sculptural expression while maintaining a deep respect for classical techniques. Sasaki’s art invites contemplation, combining timeless materials with innovative design to create pieces that resonate with both the past and the present. In addition, he is the author of patented “dodecahedrons”. His refined portrayals of human heads and forms draw inspiration from classical art traditions, echoing the sculptural techniques of ancient Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultures.
