Eduardo Guelfenbein's mesmerizing paintings feature richly textured, rhythmic surfaces that evoke ocean waves, cosmic energy, and movement. Using vibrant, layered acrylics, he blends recognizable subjects—such as portraits and landscapes—with increasingly abstract explorations of color, inspired by the landscapes of Latin America, European music, and dance.
Born in Chile, Guelfenbein graduated from the Brera Academy in Milan in 1977. His distinguished international career includes participation in the 1992 Paris Biennale, a solo exhibition at the Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art in 1997, and a major retrospective at the University of Brest in 2005.
